World Record-Holding Kissing Couple’s Relationship Falls Apart
Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat, the Thai couple who made headlines in 2013 for setting the Guinness World Record for the longest kiss, have now gone their separate ways.
Despite their record-breaking 58-hour and 35-minute kiss still standing, their relationship did not endure. Speaking on the BBC Sounds podcast Witness History, Ekkachai confirmed their split but reflected on their achievement with pride.
The couple had first broken the record in 2011 with a 46-hour kiss, motivated more by the prize—a cash reward and diamond rings—than by love. When their record was surpassed in 2012, they returned the following year, determined to reclaim their title.
Their intense training paid off, earning them 100,000 Thai Baht and two diamond rings, but the physical and emotional strain took its toll.
Though their record remains unbeaten after more than a decade, their love story ultimately did not last.
