Two employees of a popular pizza chain in Ghana have been sentenced to five years imprisonment for st£aling 20 boxes of chicken wings and gallons of cooking oil from the company’s warehouse located at Nyankyerenease in Kumasi.
The convicts, Seidu Karim and Rashid Abdullah, were arrested on Monday, May 1, after the company, Pizzaman’s warehouse manager reported that two cooking oil and eight boxes of chicken wings had been st%len.
The warehouse manager had called the complainant who is the executive chef of Pizzaman to report the st%len items, Prosecuting officer, ASP Jonas Newlove Adjei, told the court presided over by H/H Fred Obekyere Esq.
After confirming that the items had indeed been st%len, the company held an emergency meeting where workers were asked to provide any information they had about the st%len items, Ghana News Guild reports.
During the interrogation, Rashid Abdullah stated that he saw Seidu Karim hiding two gallons of Oki cooking oil behind the fence wall, while Seidu Karim claimed to have seen Rashid Abdullah hiding two boxes of chicken wings at the back of the fence wall.
The st%len items were retrieved from them, and they were later handed over to the Asuoyeboah police command for further investigations.
Upon investigation, Seidu Karim confessed to st£aling 20 gallons of cooking oil from the company over a two-month period. As a result, both accused persons were charged with the offense and sentenced to five years imprisonment each in hard labor by the Kwadaso Circuit Court.
