Dr¥g abu§£ is responsible for the rising insecurity in Plateau — Gov. Mutfwang

The executive governor of Plateau state, Caleb Mutfwang, has said the ab¥se of illicit dr¥gs plays a role in the heightened insecurity in the state.

Communities in Mangu LGA experienced fresh att@cks on January 23 that left at least 30 people, including women and children d£ad.

The att@ck forced the state government to impose a dusk-to-dawn curfew, with security agencies charged to bring the assailants to book.

Speaking during a visit to the LGA on Friday, January 26, Mutfwang said the k+llings are a reflection of dr¥g ab¥se, adding that illicit drug peddling must come to an end.

According to him, “Of course, there was the involvement of dr¥gs; this is something we must tackle to be able to address the issues of the dr¥g menace in our society.

This is why we want to use this medium to tell those in dr¥g business to know that their time on the Plateau is up; we will not tolerate it any longer.

We will go after them, and if they have anywhere they want to do their business, Plateau is certainly not the place.”
