The Sports University of Nigeria (SUN), Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta State, has commenced admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session into its degree, diploma, and certificate programmes.
As Nigeria’s first specialised sports university, SUN combines academic excellence with high-performance sports training, producing graduates equipped for both professional careers and athletic success.
SUN offers a unique opportunity to combine sports and academics, enabling students to graduate with double honours.
The university operates a dual-track system where every student engages in compulsory sports training alongside their academic programme. Available sports include football, basketball, tennis, swimming, athletics, volleyball, taekwondo, golf, and more.
Academic programmes span key disciplines such as Sports Science, Mass Communication, Allied Health Sciences (including Nursing and Physiotherapy), Management and Social Sciences, Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Architecture. Certificate and diploma programmes are also available in areas like Sports Marketing, Governance, Athlete Management, and Digital Sports Media.
For candidates requiring academic preparation, SUN offers foundation and basic studies programmes that integrate education with sports development.
Admission requirements vary by programme but generally include five O’Level credits (including English and Mathematics), with UTME required for degree courses. Direct Entry options are also available.
