Court Grants Portable N2 Million Bail Over Alleged Assault on Government Officials
A Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has granted controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, bail in the sum of N2 million.
Portable was arraigned on Thursday on a five-count charge, including conspiracy, assault, and obstruction of government officials. The charges stem from an alleged attack on town planners at his Odogwu Bar.
The singer, who pleaded not guilty, was declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command before voluntarily turning himself in at the Lagos SCID on Wednesday. He was later transferred to Ogun State for prosecution.
Nine of his associates, facing similar charges, were arraigned earlier on February 6. They allegedly assaulted and obstructed town planning officials—Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef, and Akinpelumi Oyero—while they were carrying out their lawful duties.
Magistrate O. L. Oke granted Portable bail with one surety and adjourned the case till March 5 for trial.
