JUST IN: Benue Assembly Approves Removal of Chief Judge Over Alleged Abuse of Office
The Benue State House of Assembly has approved the removal of the state’s Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Maurice Ikpambese, following allegations of financial impropriety and abuse of office.
The decision was reached during a plenary session where lawmakers deliberated on petitions against the Chief Judge, accusing him of misconduct that allegedly undermines the integrity of the judiciary.
In response, the Assembly directed that the next most senior judge be sworn in as the acting Chief Judge to ensure the smooth running of judicial affairs in the state pending the outcome of further investigations into the allegations.
