President Bola Tinubu says the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump is “distasteful and goes beyond the pale of democratic norms”.
On Saturday, gunshots fired at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania.
Trump was delivering a speech about how “the worst president in the history of our country took over” when the gunshots were fired.
Amid the shooting, the former president went down behind the speech podium before his security shielded him.
Tinubu sympathised with the former US president, adding that violence has no place in democracy.
