Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) Announces Registration Notice for Data Controllers and Processors

The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) announces a mandatory registration notice for entities handling personal data in accordance with Section 5(d) of the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023. This includes businesses, educational institutions, healthcare providers, and others.

 

All organizations collecting personal data, whether for commercial or non-commercial purposes, such as student records, client information, or patient details, must register as either a Data Controller or Data Processor.

 

Registration is accessible through the official NDPC Registration Portal at www.services.ndpc.gov.ng from January 30th to June 30th, 2024. Failure to register within this period will result in penalties.

 

The Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, prohibits processing personal data without proper registration, and non-compliance is punishable by law.
