Mohammed Aminu, the police officer who was a§§a¥lted by Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti, has been promoted.
Recall that in May, Kuti was seen in a viral video a§§a¥lting the police officer, who, despite the provocation, did nothing in response.
Kuti was later detained and arraigned for a§§a¥lt, for which he claimed not g¥ilty and was granted bail.
The Police Service Commission (PSC) said in a statement on Thursday, July 20, 2023, that the officer had been promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
A statement by the PSC spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, said Aminu, despite the a§§ault, exhibited a high level of professionalism.
“Inspector Mohammed Aminu, who trended on social Media where he was seen being a§§a¥lted in uniform by one Seun Kuti, was also promoted to ASP I,” Ani said.
