Nigeria in Diaspora Commission Chief Executive Officer, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has explained why evacuated Nigerians are yet to arrive in the country on Friday as earlier announced.
She claimed that as of today, they had anticipated their arrival, but when their buses approached the Egyptian border, the Egyptians refused to open their border, posing a hurdle. They only permitted two officials to enter their country; the others were never permitted. They claimed the others required a visa or clearance that they did not possess, which delayed their travel.
NIDCOM CEO, however, claimed that she had spoken to the Nigerian Ambassador in Egypt and had given her assurances that the situation would be rectified and that they would pass the border by tomorrow morning.
She also said that the Nigerian government had made an air force plane available to pick them up as soon as they arrived at Aswan International Airport in Egypt.
