Apostle Suleman: Edo police withdraw DPO over de@th of only suspect

The Edo State Police Commissioner, AIG Abutu Yaro, has recalled the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Auchi Division, Ayodele Suleiman, over the k#lling of the only suspect arrested in connection with the de@dly att@ck on apostle Johnson Suleman.

Unknown g#nmen att@cked Suleman’s convoy on Friday evening, October 21, and k#lled seven persons including police orderlies, among others.

One of the suspects, who was apprehended alive and handed over to the police, later di#d in their custody. He was allegedly sh@t by the police.

In a viral video, a voice said to be that of a policeman said, “One of the kidn@ppers that was caught today (Friday) while the DPO, CSP Ayodele Sulaiman, led the operation along Iyewe-Auchi Road, and after a g#n b@ttle, this one (suspect) was g#nned down while others escaped with b#llet wounds. Bush combing is ongoing.”

However, the cleric in a tweet on Saturday refuted the claims, stating that the g#nmen weren’t kidn@ppers and accused the police of k#lling him.

Reacting to the development, the police in a statement on Saturday said: “As part of the measures of the Command concerning the circumstances that led to the de@th of one of the surviving members of the m@nstrous gang that att@cked the convoy of Apostle Johnson Suleiman, General overseer of Omega Fire Ministry, the outgoing CP now AIG Abutu Yaro fdc has ordered the withdrawal of CSP Ayodele Suleiman, DPO Auchi for debriefing at the State Headquarters with immediate effect.”
