The Federal Government has warned Nigerians not to travel to Northern Cyprus.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa gave the warning on Thursday, August 25, during a press briefing in Abuja.
According to her, it’s imperative that Nigerians stay away from Northern Cyprus because of the human rights ab#ses being meted out to them in the country.
She warned that the country, which is only recognised by Turkiye, does not have robust mechanisms that would enable the Federal Government to pursue justice for several Nigerian students k#lled in the de facto state.
“Think twice before going to Northern Cyprus. We can’t do much for Nigerians there. Our students are being k#lled daily. Some people will tell you that their destinies are abroad but if you want to go, go legally,” she said.
