Pregnant woman arrested as NDLEA uncovers illicit dr#gs hidden inside canned drinks

Operatives of the National Dr#g Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered illicit dr#gs hidden inside canned drinks at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

A 30-year-old pregnant woman, Mrs. Seun Babatunde, and her accomplice, Shola Ogunrinde, were also arrested in connection with the seized dr#gs.

NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday, May 8, disclosed that the illicit dr#gs we’re intercepted onWednesday May 4, 2022.

According to him, “NDLEA operatives at the SAHCO export shed of the airport intercepted some cartons of alcoholic drinks suspected to contain illicit dr#gs.

A freight agent who brought the consignment for export to Dubai, UAE, Ogunrinde, was immediately arrested while a follow up operation led to the arrest of Mrs. Babatunde, who operates an alcohol joint in Pleasure area of Iyana Ipaja.

When the cartons were opened in the presence of the agent and the pregnant owner, seven parcels of cannabis and a sachet of ecstasy dr#g (MDMA) were found concealed inside Cans of black b#llet alcoholic drinks.

In her confession, Mrs. Babatunde claimed the dr#gs were being sent to her husband who lives in Dubai.”
