Court remands two for allegedly beh*ading a 9-year-old boy in Rivers

A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has remanded two suspects, Kenneth Sylvanus and Chijioke Ogbonna, who allegedly m*rdered a nine-year-old boy, Destiny Peter, by s*vering his head from the body, in Isiokpo clan, Ikwerre LGA of the state.


Destiny Peter was reported missing by his aunt on Thursday November 11, 2021. His dism*mbered body was later recovered in the bush the following day, November 12.

Three suspects: Kenneth Sylvanus, 24, Chibuzor Amadi, 33, and 37-year-old herbalist, Chijioke Ogbonnah, were arrested.

Sylvanus and Ogbonna, are standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and m*rder. The first accused person, Kenneth, has already pleaded guilty to the charge even when it has not been read.

When the matter was called, Sylvanus informed the court that a third suspect in the case, Chibuzor Amadi, was granted bail by the police before their arraignment.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate I.F. Iyabo, remanded the two defendants and directed the prosecutor to liaise with the attorney general’s office to produce the third accused person on the next adjourned date of Monday, December 6, 2021.
