A new HoD in the Linguistics department at University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Prof. H.O. Taiwo, served both Masters and PhD students query for not attending a seminar — mini-project presentation.
According to a source, some masters degree students who showed up late were asked by the HoD to carry a heavy cabinet from his office as punishment. Our source also noted that the HoD questioned why most of the students hold full-time jobs while being postgraduate students. “I feel bad seeing nonsense like this happening in Nigerian universities, worst still by an administrator of a school that primes itself as the ‘First’ in the country,” the source said.
