Trigger-happy police officers cause the death of Imo businessman 2 days to his birthday

A businessman and Computer Engineering graduate of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Imo State, Okafor Peter, has died just two days to his birthday.

According to a source, the deceased was in a car with some others when police officers accosted them for a stop-and-search on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Owerri-Abia boundary in the state.

“Okafor was in the car attending to one of the police officers, while others had alighted when another police officer in a bid to stop a moving truck for stop-and-search, shot at it’s tyres and it lost control. The truck rammed into Okafor’s direction and he died instantly.

The police officers on seeing what had happened, took to their heels. His family is currently in shock over the tragic incident,” a source said. [Swipe]
