Residents of Bonny Island, a community in the southern edge of River State, today, January 11, 2021, staged a peaceful protest, over what they alleged as incessant attacks by sea pirates.
According to a source, the attacks which include; killing, robbing, kidnapping, rape, among others, have been going on for years, on the sea, which is the community’s major means of transportation.
“We’re calling on the Federal, State and local government to come our aid, and give us a permanent solution.
Bonny Island contributes a lot to the GDP of Nigeria with the location of multinationals like Shell, Mobil, among others. We shouldn’t be neglected,” the source said.
