The police in Lagos State has arrested a mom-of-4, Mary Omifunto, for allegedly scalding her 14-year-old daughter with hot water over her refusal to hawk.
The unfortunate incident occurred last Sunday when the food vendor asked her daughter, Oladiran Kaosarat, to go and hawk but she allegedly refused.
Her refusal was said to have provoked Omifunto, who first attacked her with a metal object before pouring hot water on her, and inflicting burns on many parts of her body.
Confirming the incident, Lagos police spokesperson, SP Muyiwa Adejobi, “The Commissioner of Police has condemned the act. It is surprising why someone would do such a thing to her biological daughter. The girl is in pain. It is quite unfortunate.”
