Why I K+lled My Mother-in-Law —Suspect Confesses
A 27-year-old man, Yayu Musa, has confessed to k+lling his mother-in-law, Atayi Abdul, in Olla community, Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25.
According to reports, Musa attacked the 50-year-old woman on her way to the farm, allegedly trailing and ambushing her before k+lling her with a machete. A disturbing video recorded by a local vigilante group showed the victim’s mutilated body, suggesting a br¥tal a§§ault.
Following the incident, Musa fled to a neighbouring village but was eventually tracked down and arrested by the community’s vigilante team.
In a recorded confession, Musa explained his motive, “I k+lled her because she wanted to stop me from marrying her daughter, Umi Idris. She gave her to me in marriage, and I’ve spent all my money trying to make our marriage work.”
He claimed that despite his efforts — including selling his motorcycle and spending heavily on medical treatment to help his wife conceive — his mother-in-law continued to ta¥nt him. “She kept saying I wasn’t man enough and that she’d give my wife to another man because she couldn’t get pregnant,” he said.
Musa insisted he acted out of fr¥stration and love for his wife, stating, “I didn’t want to see her marry someone else while I’m alive.”
The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue.
