Former Governor of Oyo State, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, has passed away at the age of 90.
His family confirmed his death in a statement released on Sunday. According to his wife, Mrs. Ronke Olunloyo, the elder statesman died after a brief illness at a private hospital in Ibadan.
Dr. Olunloyo’s passing comes just days before his 90th birthday celebration, which was already being planned.
Described as a renowned mathematician, engineer, and technocrat, Olunloyo held several key positions during his lifetime, including serving as the first rector of both The Polytechnic, Ibadan, and Kwara State Polytechnic. He was also the Balogun of Oyo and Otun Bobasewa of Ife.
The family expressed gratitude for his life of service and requested privacy as they begin preparations for his burial.
