Popular Lagos Food Vendor Nabs Staff in Multimillion-Naira Theft Scandal
A prominent Lagos-based food vendor has uncovered a shocking theft scheme within her company, leading to the arrest of more than three of her staff members over the theft of diesel and frozen goods worth millions of naira.
The discovery came to light after the business owner noticed discrepancies in the company’s diesel consumption. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the staff had been siphoning diesel over an extended period. The racket didn’t stop there — the employees were also caught stealing frozen turkey from the company’s store, compounding the financial losses.
An eyewitness revealed that the business owner, who had always treated her staff with generosity — including providing them with free accommodation to ease transportation challenges and gifting them Christmas hampers as tokens of appreciation — felt deeply betrayed by their actions. Despite her goodwill, the staff allegedly formed a coordinated team with the sole aim of stealing from the very business that supported them.
The culprits have since been handed over to the police and are expected to spend the “month of love” behind bars as investigations continue.
