Chaos in Kano as Emir of Rano Allegedly Prohibits Church Activities in Residential Homes

The Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru, has reportedly issued a directive banning church activities in residential buildings across the emirate.

The decision follows petitions from concerned residents, prompting the Emir to establish a special investigative committee.

According to reports, the committee found that a church in Yadi Quarters, Rano town, had been holding services in a residential property without proper legal authorization.

Rano Emirate is home to 27 recognized churches where Christians worship freely without interference. However, complaints about unauthorized religious gatherings in private homes led to growing concerns among locals.

Acting on the committee’s recommendations, the Emir ordered an immediate stop to all church services in residential buildings to prevent any potential disruption to public peace.

Alhaji Umar Isa Sarki, secretary of the investigative committee, confirmed that multiple petitions had questioned the legality of such gatherings.

The chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kano chapter, has yet to respond to the development.
