The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a suspect over his alleged involvement in the m¥rder of a 25-year-old man, Temitope Olorunfemi, who was l¥nched in Akure after being accused of being a ‘Yahoo boy’.
It would be recalled that an angry m+b on Monday April 10, 2023, st+ned Tope to d£ath, when his alleged r£ckless driving caused an accident that left one person d+ad and six others inj¥red. After k+lling Temitope, his car, a Toyota Camry (muscle), was also incinerated by the irate m+b in the presence of his wailing parents.
In an interview, the deceased mother, Mojisola Olorunfemi, and his wife, Mosunmola Bosede, denied that he was a fraudster. According to the women, the deceased was an Uber driver who came to visit them for the Easter festivity.
Five suspects were arrested and subsequently arraigned for their involvement in the m¥rder.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya who confirmed the latest development on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, said the suspect claimed to have found some fetish items inside Temitope’s car, raising suspicion that he was a Yahoo boy.
The m+b was said to have been ang£red by the claims and descended on Temitope, b+at him to a point of comatose before §t+ning him to d£ath. “On the 10th April 2023, (Easter Monday) a young man was involved in a fatal motor acc+dent along Ijoka road , Akure. He was labelled ‘ a yahoo boy’ and k+lled by an ir@te m@b. The suspect who claimed to have seen “Ijapa Meta” and other fetish objects in his car has been arrested. Do not say what you can’t defend,” the statement read.
