Footage shows the moment four Nigerian care workers ‘m@ltr£at£d and ab¥§£d’ an 89-year-old grandmother who’s s¥ffering from d£mentia in the U.K

Harrowing footage showing a 89-year-old grandmother s¥ffering from dementia being ab¥§ed by four Nigerian carers after her family became suspicious of br¥ises on her body and hid a secret camera in her bedroom, have surfaced online.

According to Daily Mail, Beryl Wall, 89, began to get br¥ises on her face and wrists while staying at a care home in Wolverhampton, igniting concern from her granddaughters Rebecca and Danielle Hinsley. The pair complained to staff at the Wolverhampton care home in February 2020 but were left dissatisfied with the response so took matters into their own hands.

Ms Wall’s granddaughters put a Yi Eye Wi-Fi camera on a photo frame in her grandmother’s bedroom in a bid to see what was happening to Mrs Wall, who had vascular dementia and could not speak at the time. Four days of footage showed the grandmother being handled ro¥ghly, h#t with a pillow and treated with a lack of dignity. The recording also showed the workers shouting at Mrs Wall, holding her legs up in the air and p#nching her face.

In another clip one of the thugs can be seen forcibly gr+bbing and m%cking Mrs Wall before h#tting her over the head with a pillow. The shocking video also shows the disgraced staff calling Mrs Wall ‘di§g¥sting’ and p#nning her down while they attempt to clean and dress her. Some of the footage shows how Mrs Walls’ legs were yanked or f%rcibly held in the air, despite her increasingly di§tressed scr£ams. It also showed her being p¥shed, r£§trained and having a towel placed ov£r her face by carers who were meant to uphold her dignity.

The elderly woman had been staying at the home for a year and had become nervous and sc@red to be to¥ched, detectives said, with br¥ises showing up on her arm.

Her granddaughter Danielle said: “Knowing they spent Christmas and new year away from their families is the best p¥nishment. We visited nan every day as this happened before lockdown. Her behaviour had changed, she had br¥ises. So I went home and ordered a picture frame camera off Amazon and put a picture of me, my sister and my nan in it.’ When the granddaughter viewed the footage several days later, she said she was heartbroken. In a lot of the footage the elderly grandmother was n+ked and in a state of confusion, according to Danielle. The two sisters gave their evidence to the care home managers, the Care Quality Commission and West Midlands Police, the BBC reported.

Tragically, the beloved grandmother-of-six, great-grandmother of 12 and the great-great grandmother-of-one passed away on October 6 last year, aged 92 – shortly after her ab*sers were found guilty.

Ame Tunkara, 33, and Morounranti Adefila, 43, were found guilty of ill-treatment and wilful neglect and sentenced to four months in prison on December 8, 2023. Danny Ohen, 39, and Bridget Aideyan, 49, both from Wolverhampton, were also found guilty of the same offences and sentenced to six months and four months respectively on November 14, 2023.
