The incidence occurred at Forte Oil Filling Station along the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road. Mrs. Florence Anih had gone to fill her fuel tank and joined the queue she met. When it was her turn, it’s was discovered that her fuel tank was
not directly facing the pump. She was asked to turn her car. While at it, Friday Zadiel, a lance corporal, who was in a truck marked, Rotary Group 205, saw her and thought she was attempting to beat the queue.
He ordered her to go back to the end of the queue saying he was on a special assignment. The manager of the station intervened and ordered that Florence, who wasn’t in uniform, be served but she said Friday should be attended to since he was on a special assignment. After he was served, Friday insisted that she should go back to the end of the queue.
He started banging on her car and Florence challenged him. So, he told her, ‘you are stupid’ and she replied him, ‘you are also stupid.’ The outcome was a slap which resulted in a brawl during which he also used his hand to break her car’s windscreen. Florence’s husband, Mr. Justin Anih, said he had been humiliated by the incident.
He said efforts to get the military authorities to punish Friday had been abortive. The Command Public Relations Officer, Logistics Command, Nigerian Air Force, Joel Abioye, confirmed the incident. He said the DPO, under whom Florence was working came and the matter was resolved amicably. This is the 2nd time a female police officer would be assaulted by an air force officer on the Airport Road.
Back in January, a Chief Superintendent of Police, Felicia Victor, was slapped by a yet-to-be identified air force officer….. If ds continues, d Nigeria Police Force says it’d instruct its female officers not to buy fuel at any Filling Station in Nigeria again……
