Woman arrested in Kano for allegedly kidn@pping her daughter and requesting N3 million from her ex-husband

One Rahama Sulaiman, 25 has been apprehended by the Kano State Police Command has arrested 25-year-old for allegedly kidn@pping her six-year-old daughter and demanding a N3 million ransom from her ex-husband.

Rahama reportedly took the daughter to a relative in Madobi Local Government Area (LGA) to keep for her, claiming she would be away for four days.

Speaking to newsmen at the Kano Police Command’s headquarters on Friday, May 13, 2023, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, said they received a report from the husband, Kabiru Shehu, that his daughter had been kidn@pped.

“On 08/05/2023, a report was received from one Kabiru Shehu of Sharada Quarters, Kano Municipal LGA that his divorced wife, one Rahma Sulaiman , ‘f’ , 25 years old informed him that his daughter named Hafsat Kabiru, ‘f’, 6 years old was missing, and that unknown persons called her through her mobile phone demanding the sum of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000:00k) as ransom.

In a follow-up investigation, the v#ctim was rescued in Madobi LGA. The divorced wife was arrested and confessed to have planned, took her daughter to a hideout and demanded the ransom. Investigation is in progress,” the CP said.

Rahama noted that her ex-husband had not given her money to feed the children for over 10 months, so she decided to kidn@p their daughter to get funds from him to cater for the children

“I called him and told him that our daughter was missing, and we went to the police together and reported the matter. Inside the police station, I gave him the number of the guy that would receive the ransom,” she said

However, the suspect expressed remorse over her actions and revealed that she had reconciled with her husband. Shehu also confirmed that they had reconciled, adding that his wife had never done such before.
