Local government officer allegedly br¥taliz£s his wife for engaging in a ‘disgrac£ful business’ in Edo State

An aspiring politician identified as Monday David Ayeni has been accused of br¥talizing his wife for allegedly engaging in a business that he claimed was “d@maging to his reputation.”

According to a source, the incident happened recently at Afuze, Owen LGA, Edo State. It is alleged that Monday a§§aulted the victim, a mother-of-four, because she decided to engage in selling soft drinks when he didn’t live up to his responsibilities.

“Monday works at the local government council. He doesn’t provide for his wife and their four kids so she decided to engage in petty businesses to feed them. Recently, he relocated with the family to the village and never bothered to take care of them. He had promised he’d set up a store for her business which he never fulfilled.

His long-s¥ffering wife took to selling sachet water and soft drinks at the village market, as well as work on people’s farm to earn a living. Last time we spoke, she informed me she was making enough money to feed her children so she stopped bothering her husband to support her in taking care of the home.

Then, few days ago, he returned home from work and queried her for the kind of business she ventured into. This led to an argument and Monday unleashed his inner b£ast by h#tting her on the head with a wooden stick in the presence of his mother. He almost k#lled his wife but for the timely intervention of villagers. During interrogation by irate eyewitnesses, he claimed he br¥talized her because “her petty business was disgrac£ful and d@maging to his political ambition.”

However, we rushed the victim to a hospital for medical treatment as she was bl££ding profusely from the head. We urge the Edo state government to look into the matter and ensure Monday is put behind bars,” a source familiar with the incident said.
