Mbaitoli in Imo State and its environs on Friday afternoon, came under heavy att@ck by gunmen enforcing the five-day sit-at-home order.

The gunmen, who struck at different locations, k#lled a policeman and Prince Chidi Iheme, who’s a politician and an elder brother to movie superstar, Osita Iheme aka PawPaw.

The gunmen also m@tcheted Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Martin Eke.
“Prince Iheme was riding in the same vehicle with the commissioner for solid minerals, Martin Eke. Prince Iheme who is Pawpaw’s elder brother was k#lled on the spot. The commissioner who was sworn in two weeks ago was c¥t badly. He has just been rushed to a hospital. They were driving in a Ford vehicle. I pray he makes it,” an eyewitness said.

It is reported that the gunmen who rode in Trundra operational vehicles shot sporadically forcing people to scamper for safety. While businesses abruptly wounded up, the roads were deserted as motorists abandoned their vehicles and ran helter skelter.

At Orji, a community sharing boundary with the state capital, the gunmen wearing black clothes in three vehicles att@cked residents and passersby, including policemen. According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen met policemen at the 7Up junction at Orji and shot one cop de@d.

An eyewitness said: “I just escaped de@th by a whiskers now. They stopped before us and and asked us to go home. They didn’t sh@@t at us maybe because I was in the midst of some elderly women.”
