Two PTI students on I.T at an oil firm, d#e in the Delta State f#re incident

Two out of the three persons who di#d as a result of the f#re incident at a petroleum tank farm belonging to matrix energy limited, have been identified to be students of the Petroleum Training Institute, Warri, Delta State.

Recall that on Friday, f#re gut the petroleum tank farm. The f#re which started about 10pm as a result of an expl@sion in one of the storage tanks during loading, caused panic as workers as residents of the coastal community scamper for safety as the fire rages.

In a statement by the Matrix Energy Group, the company said there were no casualties recorded. However, the Students’ Union Government of the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurunm Delta State, in a statement, said, “Our Attention has been drawn to a communique from Matrix Energy Limited stating that no casualty was recorded from the expl@sion that occurred on the 8th of July, 2022.

It is on record that two National Diploma graduates of the Petroleum Training Institute who were undergoing their Industrial Training by name, Comr. Omare Sunny and Comr. Godstime Chuks from Mechanical Engineering Department and Petroleum Engineering Department respectively lost their lives to the cold hands of de@th due to that expl@sion. Such information is misguided, inhuman, unfair and evil.

We frown at this occurrence and blame the management for not putting all necessary safety precautions in place which however, has led to the de@th of two young and vibrant students preparing for Higher National Diploma at their early prime,” the statement read in part.
