“Our reporting was carefully and meticulously researched and we stand by it,” CNN replies FG

US-based media giant, CNN, has reacted to Federal Government’s threat to sanction the media house over its investigative report on the October 20 shootings of end SARS protesters at Lekki Tollgate, Lagos State.

Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Thursday, November 14, said the Federal Government should sanction CNN for what he described as, “fake, misinformation and irresponsible reporting.”

Reacting to the threat, CNN has released a statement stating that its stands by its investigation.

A spokesperson of the CNN said: “Our reporting was carefully and meticulously researched, and we stand by it.

The report was based on testimony from dozens of witnesses, and photos and video obtained and geolocated by CNN. It painted a picture of how members of the Nigerian army and the police shot at the crowd, killing at least one person and wounding dozens more.”
