Katsina Government Approves ₦20m per LGA for Graveyard Renovation

Governor Dikko Radda has approved ₦20 million for each local government in Katsina State to renovate graveyards.

He announced this on Thursday while receiving royal fathers from the Katsina and Daura Emirates.

Radda described the initiative as both a public service and a way to seek Allah’s blessings for the state. He also unveiled new welfare measures for traditional and religious leaders.

According to him, a new law now guarantees salaries equivalent to Grade Level 16 for all District Heads. Additionally, 6,652 ward heads will receive monthly allowances, while more than 3,000 Imams and their deputies from Friday Mosques will be supported with stipends. Mosque sweepers from Izala and Darika across the 34 LGAs will also benefit.

The governor stressed the role of traditional rulers in mobilizing communities, urging them to promote unity and vigilance. “Security is a collective responsibility. We must unite to protect our people,” he said.

The Emir of Daura, represented by the District Head of Baure, reaffirmed solidarity with Radda following his recent car accident. The Wazirin Katsina, Senator Ibrahim Ida, representing the Emir of Katsina, praised the governor’s reforms for restoring dignity to traditional institutions and enhancing their role in governance.

He assured that the Emirate Council would continue to support the government through prayers and cooperation to strengthen peace and development across the state.
