Don’t Trade Your Soul for Wealth — Pastor Adeboye Tells Christians

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has warned believers against chasing material riches at the cost of their spiritual lives, describing such a choice as “f%%lish.”

Speaking at the RCCG’s 73rd Annual Convention themed “The Overcomers,” Adeboye reminded Christians that true victory in Christ requires spiritual discipline and a conscious rejection of worldly t+mptations.

“God is not against enjoyment,” he said. “But the body you’re pampering and beautifying will return to dust. It’s your spirit that will stand before God ,so nurture that.”

While acknowledging that prosperity is part of God’s promise, Adeboye condemned the pursuit of wealth through imm%ral means such as lying, ste@ling, or che@ting. “If you’re chasing money and losing your soul in the process, that’s st¥pidity,” he said. “What use is your wealth when you d+e? You can’t take any of it with you.”

He went on to describe the life of an overcomer as one built on s@crifice, self-control, and a firm rejection of worldly values. “Becoming a champion takes discipline. Staying one takes even more because everyone is after your crown,” he warned.

Adeboye urged Christians to hold firmly to their faith and resist the flesh. “Life is w@rfare filled with b#ttles,” he said. “But take heart you’re not alone. The Holy Spirit in you is greater than anything you’re up against.”

Highlighting the dual nature of humanity, he added: “You are a mix of dust and divinity. The flesh pulls you down, but the Spirit of God lifts you up. To live as an overcomer, you must choose the Spirit.”
