Insecurity: ‘Enough is Enough’ — President Tinubu tells NSA, Security chiefs

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered an immediate overhaul of national security strategies in response to escalating v+ol£nce in Borno, Benue, Plateau, and Kwara states.

The directive was issued during a closed-door meeting with security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and announced in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information & Strategy.

Condemning the continuous att+cks on innocent Nigerians, Tinubu told his service chiefs, “Enough is enough,” during the over two-hour meeting where they briefed him on recent att+cks, d+aths tolls, and property d£struction.

National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, while addressing journalists after the meeting, revealed that the President had been closely involved even during his recent visit to Paris and London. “Mr President gave us the chance to come and brief him again. It lasted very long. We gave him an update on what was going on. Even when he was out there, he was constantly in touch, giving directives and following developments,” he said.

Ribadu confirmed that they visited the troubled regions on Tinubu’s instructions. “We went to places with incidences of insecurity, such as Plateau, Benue, and Borno States… We gave him feedback because he had directed us earlier to go and meet with the political authorities there.”

He also emphasized the need for grassroots involvement in tackling insecurity. “The issue of insecurity often is not just at the higher levels. It involves the subunits… We need to work with the communities. We need to work with the local governments, and we need to work with the governors. The President directed that we work more with governors,” he explained.

Ribadu added that Tinubu was “very worried and concerned,” and confirmed the att+ckers often target civilians with IEDs and exploit ungoverned spaces.

“‘Enough is enough.’ We are working to ensure that we restore peace and security,” he assured.
