Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that despite his independent success in the music industry, his billionaire father, Adedeji Adeleke, still shows up with major financial support from time to time.
In a recent interview, the Unavailable hitmaker shared a candid story about receiving a surprise gift of $300,000 from his dad after a performance at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Davido, known for his openness about his wealthy background, clarified that while he largely funds his music and tours with earnings from his career, his father still occasionally blesses him with hefty checks.
“If I tell you my dad doesn’t give me money, I’d be lying,” he said. “As he should—I’m his baby! Of course, my dad gives me a check.”
He recalled how his father attended the Atlanta concert and called him the next day to praise his performance. “The next day he just called me like, ‘Ah, my son, amazing show, good job, good job… Why’d we do $300,000? Hold this.’ I was like, oh thanks, Dad!”
Despite being the son of one of Nigeria’s wealthiest men, Davido emphasized that most of his music promotion, touring, and album work is funded through his own hustle. “It’s really my music money I use for my music,” he added.
