God Told Me Not to Cut My Hair to Save a Life – Pastor Jimmy Odukoya

Senior Pastor of the Fountain of Life Church, Jimmy Odukoya, has revealed that God instructed him not to cut his dreadlocks, unknown to him that the unusual directive was linked to saving a life.

Speaking during his sermon on Sunday, Odukoya explained that he sought divine guidance on whether to change his appearance before stepping into pastoral duties following the d+ath of his father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya.

“One of the things I asked the Lord before I came back was whether I should cut my hair or not. And He told me not to cut my hair,” he said. “So I told my sister to go and pray that God would speak to her. She came back and said I wasn’t supposed to cut it. I replied, ‘I know, because God already told me.’”

Odukoya recounted an encounter with a woman who traveled from Zimbabwe to Nigeria just to see him preach. According to him, she had a vision back in 2016 while in New York, where she saw a man with long hair speaking life into her.

“In 2016, I had a vision that felt so real. I saw you with your hair, declaring over me and giving instructions,” she reportedly said. After enduring a p+inful divorce and the loss of her mother, she searched for God and stumbled upon a sermon by Odukoya on YouTube.

“She said she screamed when she saw me because I was the man from the vision—but back then, when she had the dream I didn’t even have long hair,” he said.

Reflecting on the moment, Odukoya added, “God who sees and hears knew that in February 2025, one of His daughters would need to see a man preaching—with long hair. If God hadn’t told me to keep it, I would have cut it. But He made me keep it to save a life.”
