Everytime I f+ght my wife, something bad happens. She Carries a Special Grace Over Me — Singer Davido says about Chef Chi
Afrobeats sensation Davido has opened up about the deep, almost spiritual impact his wife Chioma has had on his life, describing her influence as a rare and powerful force that has shaped both his personal and professional journey.
In a heartfelt conversation on the Breakfast Club Podcast , the singer revealed a pattern he has noticed over the years; anytime he and his wife have disagreements, something negative happens in his business.
“I’m telling you, my wife has always had this thing over me since we were young,” Davido shared. “Every time I f+ght her, something bad happens. I swear. She’ll even say, ‘You’re f+ghting me? Don’t worry, your album is coming.’ She just has that grace over me—over me, the kids, everything.”
Davido also praised Chioma’s natural role in the family, noting how effortlessly she connects with his children, including those she didn’t give birth to.
“There was a time I was scared to bring my other kids around her,” he admitted. “But the way things have grown… I didn’t even have to say, ‘This is your sister.’ It just happened naturally. The love is real.”
He recalled a recent, tender moment during a family vacation. “We were in the Bahamas, and my wife braided my hair. I was just sitting there, looking at her in the room like—yes! This is it.”
Reflecting on their enduring relationship, Davido revealed that their love story began over a decade ago, long before marriage. “We were together for like 11 years before we got married. We met in school—she was 17, I was 18. We basically grew up together.”
With emotion and admiration, Davido described Chioma as more than just a wife—she’s a grounding force in his life. “She was meant for me,” he said simply. “That’s the best, man.”
