25-year-old Joseph Abodunrin recently took his own life in the Dagbolu community of Osogbo LGA, Osun State, citing the unbearable pressures of rising living costs and its toll on his m+ntal health.
His family member, Abodunrin Grace, confirmed his passing on social media, describing him as a loving brother who masked deep p+in behind constant smiles.
Friends and family recall Joseph’s heartfelt messages on social media, where he often shared his struggles. In posts from January 31 and March 24, he revealed that the thought of leaving his siblings behind was the only reason he had delayed his final step. His final tweets expressed sorrow, a desperate search for meaning, and a hope that his words would encourage his loved ones to keep fighting—even when life seems too heavy to bear.
Despite sharing the location where he committed s¥icide, authorities have yet to recover his body, and the exact site appears inactive now. ASP Akeem Adeoye of the Osun State Police stated that he is not aware of further details but promised updates as they become available. Notably, Joseph had just celebrated his 25th birthday on February 6, 2025, making this loss all the more heartrending.
