FG Vows to Pay NYSC ₦77,000 Allowance Backlog amid viral rants challenge
After months of delay, members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) may finally have reason to celebrate, as the Federal Government has pledged to settle the backlog of the newly approved ₦77,000 monthly allowance.
The government announced the increase from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000 in September 2024. However, despite repeated assurances, the revised allowance has yet to be implemented, leading to frustration among corps members.
Now, serving corps members, as well as those in the scheme when the increment was announced, are set to receive backdated payments.
Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, made this commitment during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today. However, he did not provide a specific timeline for when the payments would be made.
