Man Arrested Over Wife’s Tragic D+ath in Benin City, Just 8 Months After Their Lavish Wedding
The Edo State Police Command has arrested Kelvin Izekor for allegedly k+lling his 38-year-old wife, Success Izekor, at their residence in Upper Mission Extension, Benin City.
The tragic incident occurred on February 22, 2025. According to eyewitness accounts, Kelvin allegedly str¥ck his wife on the h£ad with a c¥tlass, inflicting deep wo¥nds that led to her d+ath.
Reports indicate that the couple had been married since June 2024, and neighbors had previously witnessed instances of domestic ab¥se.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Thursday, Edo police spokesperson Moses Yamu revealed that an irate mob attempted to l¥nch Kelvin before officers arrived at the scene to rescue him.
“On 22/02/2025 at about 2200hrs, information was received that one Kelvin Izekor of No. 50 Upper Mission Extension, Benin City, had k+lled his wife, Success Izekor, aged 38, and was about to be l¥nch£d by an irate mob,” the statement read.
“Operatives of the Aduwawa Division swiftly responded and found the woman lying in a pool of bl@@d with deep c¥ts on her head. It took serious efforts by the police to pacify the mob, rescue the suspect, and take him into custody for investigation. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she was confirmed d+ad.”
The police confirmed that Kelvin has been charged in court and remanded in prison.
Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, condemned the rising cases of domestic v+ol£nce and assured the public of a thorough investigation, stating that anyone found guilty would face the full weight of the law.
