A suspected rit¥alist, Taiwo Yemitan, has been arrested by the operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for being in possession of fresh h¥man h+ad and dismembered bod¥ parts of a female victim in Lafenwa area of Abeokuta.
This was contained in a statement made available by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, to newsmen in Abeokuta,on Sunday.
The PPRO said the suspect, a 45 year old was arrested at 1:40a.m on Sunday in his home behind Atinsola petrol station, Sanni in Abeokuta.
She disclosed that the police acted on a tip off from the state local security outfits, the Agbekoya and the vigilante operatives before the suspect was arrested.
“The suspect admitted to knowing the deceased identified as Darasimi, who he lured to his residence with the intent to k+ll her.
He confessed to the murder, naming two other individuals, Kehinde Yemitan and one Kazeem, second name unknown as accomplice in the criminal act.
Their intention was to sell the victims head and other bod¥ parts,” he said.
The police spokesperson explained that the dismembered bod¥ had been taken to the general hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta morgue for Post mortem examination.
She noted that efforts were underway to arrest the accomplice and to locate the victim’s relatives.
Odutola added that the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta for a thorough investigation.
