A 40-year-old Nigerian woman has been apprehended by the Anti-Narcotics wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru, India, for alleged dr¥g trafficking activities.
Authorities seized 12 kilograms of MDMA, a powerful narcotic, from the suspect’s possession. The woman, identified as Roselime Oluchi Ikeoha, reportedly used her grocery store in TC Palya, operational for the past five years, as a front for her dr¥g sales.
City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda announced the arrest on Tuesday, highlighting it as one of the largest dr¥ seizures in Bengaluru’s history. Investigators believe the grocery shop was a cover for her ill#cit operations. Acting on reliable information, the CCB Narcotics team conducted a raid at the location, leading to her detention.
“This is among the biggest dr¥g seizures in both Bengaluru and Karnataka,” Dayananda stated. “The CCB successfully dismantled a network dealing in MDMA crystals on an international scale, recovering 12 kg of pure white and yellow MDMA valued at approximately ₹24 crore.”
Dayananda further revealed that Ikeoha, who arrived in Bengaluru on a business visa five years ago, had overstayed her visa since it had expired. Reports from Hindustan Times indicate that during questioning, Ikeoha confessed to her involvement in illegal activities, including the sale of dr¥gs.
“She acknowledged earning illegal profits by selling dr¥gs at inflated prices,” Dayananda noted. “An investigation is currently underway to track down her suppliers and to ascertain the role of a Mumbai-based woman believed to be linked to the network.”
Following her arrest, the CCB Narcotics team interrogated Ikeoha, gathered evidence, and seized the drugs. “We are actively searching for her supplier,” Dayananda added. “Further investigations will target identifying the Mumbai woman, understanding the significance of the 70 SIM cards found in her possession, and determining the source of the dr¥gs.”
The case has been filed under the Narcotic Dr¥gs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Foreigners Act.
