The UK government has updated financial requirements for student, tourist, and work visa applicants for 2025 due to rising living costs.
Students must now show £1,400 per month for living costs in London (up from £1,334) and £1,100 outside London (up from £1,023) for a nine-month period, along with proof of the first year’s course fees. Visa fees have also increased, with the standard student visa fee rising from £490 to £510 and a tourist visa from £115 to £120.
Work visa financial requirements vary by category. Skilled Worker Visa applicants must show £1,270 unless their employer certifies support.
Global Talent Visa applicants are exempt from specific thresholds but need to cover initial living costs. Health and Care Worker Visa applicants remain exempt with employer sponsorship.
Tourist visa applicants must prove sufficient funds for all trip expenses. Family visa applicants now need a combined annual income of at least £29,000, plus £3,800 for the first child and £2,400 for each additional child.
