“The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed a tragic collision involving a J5 Ford bus (plate number 1: YC) and a Mercedes truck (plate number 2: YC) at Ilubirin, heading towards Sura along the Lagos Third Mainland Bridge.

The accident occurred earlier today, claiming one life and leaving five individuals affected.

LASTMA officials, under the leadership of General Manager Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, quickly arrived at the scene to execute rescue operations.

With assistance from concerned bystanders, four victims were retrieved from the wreckage, three of whom survived.

Tragically, one individual, who was trapped inside the J5 Ford bus loaded with pepper and other perishable goods, succumbed to inj¥ries sustained in the cr+sh.

Preliminary findings suggest that the J5 Ford bus experienced brake failure while traveling at high speed, leading to the collision with the Mercedes truck,” the statement reads.
