Just in: Paris 2024: D’Tigress defeats Australia in women’s basketball to claim first win at Olympics in 20 years

African basketball champions, Nigeria’s D’Tigress, started their Paris Olympic Games on a winning note after they defeated their highly favoured Australian counterparts 75-62 in their opening Group B game.

The team last won an Olympic match 20 years ago. The Nigerian women led by as much as 13 points at the end of the second quarter.

This is the first win for the D’Tigress at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Ezinne Kalu scored 19 points to lead the D’Tigress to a win over the better-rated Australian team
