The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two kidn@ppers who allegedly k+lled their victims after collecting ransom from their families.
The suspects identified as Chukwuma Bartholomew and Igwe Monday were arrested on June 28, 2024, in Ijebu-Igbo after a thorough investigation by the anti-kidn@pping squad of the command.
Their victims: a 71-year-old farmer, Adekunle Ifelaja, and one Ogunyemi Femi, were abd¥cted in December 31, 2023 and November 23, 2023 respectively. They were later k+lled and b¥ried in a shallow grave inside a forest despite their families paying ransom to the kidn@ppers.
The spokesperson for the command, Omolola Odutola, in a statement to newsmen on Saturday said: “They are responsible for kidn@ppings and abd¥ctions that have been recorded in the Ijebu-Igbo area. They kidn@pped their victims, demanded ransom from their family members, and then k+lled them.
They then took them to a forest in Ijebu-Igbo, where they dug a shallow grave and b¥ried them.
After their confession, the suspects took the CP and members of the anti-kidn@pping units to the forest where they b¥ried the victims to exhume the corpses.”
