Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have arrested four suspected k+llers of an Abuja-based retired Brigadier General Uwem Udukwere.
Udukwere was reportedly k+lled by armed robbers on Saturday, June 22, at his Sunshine Estate home in Abuja.
The four suspects have been identified as Ibrahim Rabiu, 33, Nafiu Jamil, 33, Aliyu Abdullahi, 47, and 28-year-old Mohammed Nuhu.
Parading the suspects on Monday, June 24, the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, said they were arrested on Sunday, June 23, by detectives from the Utako Police Division of FCT.
“The suspects are responsible for att@cking, r%bbing and k+lling one Brigadier General Uwen Harold Udokwere (rtd.) on June 22, 2024, at his residence in Sunshine Homes Estate in Kabusa.
The suspects, who confessed to the crime, st@bbed the General when he tried to resist them with his pistols. The knife used in committing the crime was recovered and the deceased stolen phone was equally recovered,” the commissioner said.
Rabiu Ibrahim, who spoke with TheNation on how the general was k+lled said: “We st@bbed the general with a knif£. We went to rob him and we collected laptops and phones from him.
I was the one that k+lled him with a knife. I had two knives. I st@bbed him in the stomach while another of my friends st@bbed him in his shoulder. The general was with his g¥n and he was struggling with us that was why we k+lled him.”
