According to local police, Olugbemi was found on the ground with g¥nshot wounds along Meadowmist Way in the city on June 17. The 27-year-old was rushed to the Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced d£ad.
The commencement of the hearing in the case of Nicholas Francis Xavier Giroux, 36, who shot d£ad the Nigerian boxer, is set for July 17. He is charged with first-and-second-degree m¥rder in Olugbemi’s d£ath.
Before his d£ath, Isaiah was a neighbour to the accused and was an up-and-coming boxer. Nicolas who is said to have k+lled Isaiah will be held without bond, an Anne Arundel County judge decided on Thursday. Detectives obtained video surveillance footage showing Giroux, walking directly to Olugbemi with a handgun before shøoting him multiple times and fleeing the scene on foot, according to court documents.
According to the Police, Giroux confessed to the shooting on June 18. Abraham Olugbemi, the victim’s brother, was quoted as saying that Giroux was Isaiah Olugbemi’s neighbour. He alleged Giroux thr£at£ned Isaiah Olugbemi at least two
other times with a g¥n this year; once in January and a second time in June.
It was revealed that Giroux fired six to 14 shots at Olugbemi, paused and then fired at least three more times. It is reported that many of the victim’s family and friends attended the court hearing, filling up half of the courtroom gallery. His mother wore her son’s boxing medal around her neck.
Olugbemi was a three-sport athlete in high school and college, a father of a 2-year-old son and a boxer with dreams of going pro, 11 News is reporting. “I just want people to know that my brother was a great, a great father, a great man,” said Daniel Olugbemi, the victim’s brother. “He just wanted to be nothing but a great boxer.”
The victim’s sister, Rebecca Olugbemi, was filming a makeup video when the gunfire erupted. “He always looked out for everyone and made sure everyone was good. He always looked out for everyone and made sure everyone was good,” Rebecca Olugbemi said. “I don’t know what justice looks like, honestly. I don’t know if there’s anything that could be done that would make it any better Isaiah Olugbemi had just won a national boxing championship three weeks ago and was shot after he left his workout at Odenton Fitness.”
