Acting on a tipoff, officials raided a dilapidated shop on Pipe Line Road, Eneka, disguised as a pool house, where suspects were found producing the fake water.
The operation revealed a disturbing process – used Eva plastic bottles were refilled with contaminated water drawn from a paint bucket, filtered through a dirty rubber funnel covered with cloth. Counterfeit Eva labels were then applied to the bottles, corked with fake Eva corks.
One suspect, Chibunna James, was apprehended while loading the adulterated water for distribution, while the mastermind remains at large.
