Big Brother Reality show star, Pere Egbi, has expressed his opinion that past winners of the show did not merit their prizes.
He suggested that Nigerian viewers voted based on emotions rather than reasoning, implying that winners might have been different if the show were based in South Africa or America. Despite his own participation in two seasons of the show, stated that he would decline the opportunity to return if offered.
Speaking on the latest episode of Celebrity Quickies, he described his time in the Big Brother Naija house as a mixed experience but stated that he believes Nigerians are not prepared for reality TV.
Pere cr#ticized the voting pattern of Nigerian audiences, describing them as narrow-minded compared to audiences in other countries. He said: “My experience in the Big Brother Naija house was a rollercoaster. I had different encounters with different people, experiences that gave me something. Overall, it was good.
But if I was asked to go back in the [BBNaija] House again, I would not. Simply because I feel Nigerians are not ready for reality TV. A bunch of Nigerians who actually vote for these guys in these shows in Nigeria, especially, Big Brother, are just one-track minded. I’m being honest, if this was a South African or an American show, I don’t think the people who won will win.”
