It was a scene of h%rror on Friday morning when staff members of Happy Day Quest Inn Hotel woke up to find the d+capitated body of a woman in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
It is reported that a man on Thursday, January 18 checked into the hotel with the lady at about 7 pm. Her h+adless body was later found by the hotel workers while the man reportedly fled with the head. According to one of the staff members who spoke to Sahara Reporters said that the man dr¥gged his victim before c+tting off her head.
The staff member who spoke to SaharaReporters on condition of anonymity said, “This is a rude shock. He left the hotel after one and a half hours, purportedly to pick up some items at a nearby store.”
The state police command confirmed the incident on Friday morning noting that three hoteliers were arrested in connection with the br¥tal m¥rder of the victim. The deceased has been found to be a married woman who just got separated from her husband. Her ex-husband, Auwal Garba, on Friday, identified the remains of his estranged wife, deposited at the Specialist Hospital.
Garba, who confirmed the identity of the deceased as Bilkisu Alhaji Idi to the police, said she was his wife, whom he had married about six years ago. “He said the union produced one child but due to some irreconcilable differences he divorced her in December, 2023. The deceased even called him on the day she was k#lled at Happy Day Guest Inn, that she wanted to talk to her child, but he informed her that the child is with his grand mother,” the police said.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje said, “Yes, a lady was found dEad in a hotel here in Yola, this morning. Some n@rcotics were also recovered from the room. But at the moment, we’re still investigating because we currently have three suspects in our custody in connection to the crime. The arrested suspects are Offa Jacob, receptionist; Yifarta Caleb, receptionist and Habit Isah, security guard.
The lady, Bilkisu Alhaji Idi was b+headed by a suspected rit¥alist who lodged into the hotel with her in Yola North Local Government, Adamawa State on 18 January, 224. The suspects are in protective Custody and given useful information that will aid investigation. More details will be communicated soon,” Nguroje stated.
